Local Exhibitions in May/June 2014

A couple of local exhibitions if you are interested :

Ellie-May is 20yrs old and is hosting her third stand alone exhibition.
We would be grateful if you could circulate the attached poster to all your members/clubs.
It would be wonderful to welcome any of your members and for them to support and encourage this very talented young artist on any of the dates shown by popping in and giving her the opportunity to discuss her work.
thanking you in anticipation

Cleethorpes Discovery Centre –  New Exhibition    (opened 10th May 2014)

The Scenes and Wildlife of NE Lincolnshire

GPS member John Leslie a.r.p.s and former member Colin Smale a.r.p.s. have put together this exhibition, which will be in place until the end of September this year.  It will take up the galleries on both floors of the centre, with GPS member Vic Bouch adding a group of images to the the upper gallery.

For those who might wish to add their own collection later, the new council management has accepted local opinions that the Discovery Centre galleries should in future concentrate on images taken locally.

This is no difficulty for Colin, who has spent decades with his love of local bird and wildlife photography, with countless contributions to magazines and online institutes.  He is known for his talks on bird photography skills also.

The John Leslie images also date back many years.  He has groups based on titles such as “The Estuary”, “The Promenade and Beach”, and so on.       The Vic Bouch images show his well developed style of monochrome “fine art” images.

John Leslie  ARPS, Colin Smale ARPS and Vic Bouch of Grimsby Photographic Society have prints of a variety of subjects taken in the local area.  The prints are on display throughout the summer, and are freely available to view during opening times of the Discovery Centre.Carole Crawford also has a selection of prints on display in both cafe areas of the building, mostly depicting ducks, geese and swans taken in the vicinity of the Discovery Centre. At the Discovery Centre there are 2 cafes, an observatory which overlooks the Humber, and upper and lower floor galleries.  There is also a boating lake, several shops, Jungle World,  ducks, geese, etc, close by, in fact, something for the whole family to enjoy.
